train的用法总结

查的时候还意外获得一个知识点，train还可以用来形容拖地长裙的后摆:the part of a long dress that spreads out onto the floor behind the person wearing it.

比如说：an elaborate wedding dress with a long train.

而且每个词典给出的解释都不完全相同，比对一下，也可以学到不同的表达方式，刚才给出的是剑桥字典，查Merriam-Webster的时候，拖地裙摆给的解释是：a part of a gown that trails behind the wearer.

wearer就比剑桥的解释更简洁，trail的用法也可以学习。

前面的释义部分，Merriam-Webster给出的用法也很简洁：

a.to teach so as to make fit, qualified,or proficient

b.to form by instruction, diecipline, or drill

to make prepared(as by exercise)for a test of skill.

没有给出例句。

Merriam-Webster还系统比较了teach, instruct, educate, train, discipline, school这几个近义词的区别，感兴趣的同学可以自己去查一下。

现在查网络字典真的好方便，随便动动手指就可以查一个词在四五个字典里面的解释，相互印证补充，还可以顺便学到不同的表达，简直停不下来。

我又丢到Collins里面，然后发现还有一个用法上面两个字典都没提：

if you train a tree, bush, or plant in a particular direction, you tie it and cut it so that it grows in that direction.

例句：You could even put a trellies on your walls and train plants to grow up it.

我们养绿萝的时候就经常这么干嘛。

这个过程就像是玩“惊喜猜拆乐”，强烈推荐给大家~~悄悄说下，我中学的时候就是这么玩儿词的，课文里的词或是课外阅读的词先查一个，然后“咦?””“哎?”查一串儿，一不小心当时用的整本牛津中阶就抄得七七八八了，英语学习变得so easy。
